As a festival of speed, Forza Horizon 2 succeeds in almost every way. With such a strong offering of cars and events, and a gorgeous environment that feels more like a holiday destination than a game location, there's strength and beauty in Playground Games' second lap. On top, there's a stronger multiplayer offering, complete with whole Road Trip events to share with your friends, which take advantage of the game's spaciousness, the day/night cycle and dynamic weather additions.
Add in the ability to start clubs and race socially and you have some real longevity here . So even if you're the only human in a race, you'll have a diverse set of opponents based on your online friends and other players. Some will be aggressive, smashing into other cars and taking every shortcut possible, while others are more likely to jump out of the way if you drive at them, or use extreme caution heading into corners. Sometimes they'll just make mistakes, as people do, taking a corner too fast and spinning out, or crashing into oncoming traffic. The single-player mode is awfully close to playing with real people, and it's a delight. Forza Horizon 2 is a racing video game, featuring an open world environment.
The player participates in the Horizon Festival, a fictional racing competition set within Southern France and Northern Italy. The game has approximately three times more drivable area than that of its predecessor Forza Horizon, with events set in Provence, Liguria and Côte d'Azur, among other regions. Players can explore the region, taking part in races and special events in order to advance through the game. Events can take place at day or night, and a dynamic weather system was added for the first time in a Forza-series game. The races are challenging and intense, full of hairpin turns and Terminator-like Drivatars. The game's also a grogeous European road trip where you can calmly drive around the highly detailed French countryside listening to radio stations full of excellent synthwave, rock, and classical music.
All this adds up to a Top Gear fanatic's dream game and an Xbox One owner's next likely purchase. Forza Horizon 2 is PCMag's Editors' Choice for next-generation console racing games on the Xbox One. To order this game please select one of the editions from the Xbox Store. Explore a beautiful open world with dynamic day, night and spectacular weather effects in stunning 1080p. Drive 200+ cars in epic road trips through a massive, wide-open world of freedom. Action-packed driving gameplay rewards you for showing off your style as well as your skill.
Instantly connect with friends online with no lobbies and no waiting. The game's off-roading style of racing isn't some kind of silver bullet that automatically makes playing the game fun, but it's part of that essence that's so easy to enjoy but hard to fully grasp. 'Forza Horizon 2' brings over so many features from 'Forza 5,' it can be startling. Human players tend to treat computer controlled opponents like dirt, but in the year since Forza 5 was released, Greenawalt says, the human community as a whole began driving more courteously. In online group play, drivers tend to be more polite because there are real people behind the wheels of the other cars. Drivatars have started to close the gap between online group play, where drivers are moderately polite to other humans, and single player mode, where the opponents learn to closely imitate humans.
Now, the community as a whole drives much cleaner in single-player, ending up with better racing. "Social engineering intersects with AI and technology," said Greenawalt. According to Metacritic Forza Horizon, 2 scored 86 out of 100. Xbox one uses a graphic interface when the player first chooses the car for racing. Forza Horizon 2 is considered to be one of the best-looking racing games to be played on racing platforms. The game offers the players cars like the Chevrolet Camaro, which is an old car of the 1970s.
The player can experience spectacular effects of the day and night. The player has full freedom to experience the beauty of the open world, especially the dynamic mornings and splendid nights along with the gaming experience. The game offers the players the to drive more than two hundred cars and allows them to go on road trips. Heck, the Gamertags of friends even hover over opposing AI cars during races in an attempt to personalize the races and further motivate players. The aforementioned rival system is where the game's promotion of friendly competition really shines through.
After each race players are shown a friend's time that was close to the original time and are then encouraged to race them one versus one for an endless loop of one-upmanship. Even if you blow your friends' times out of the water you'll still want to keep at it because you'll be given the chance to go up against someone else with a similar time to yours. Basically, you drive to a specific location in each Horizon festival location and join up with an online crew for that session.
You can then choose to either just cruise the map or take part in more structured events. Among new features in the game are "Bucket Lists", three groups of timed challenges for the player to complete, similar to the 1000 Club in Forza Horizon. These challenges are continuously updated to provide new challenges throughout the map. Car Meets are an online mode where players can meet up online and compare their cars, similar to "Forzavista" mode in Forza Motorsport 5. Players are also able to interact with each other in Car Meets, including sharing tuning setups and liveries.
In the online version of the game, races such as circuits, sprints, and cross country are playable against other players, along with other game types such as Infected and King. In addition to the dynamic weather effects, Forza Horizon 2 also covers new ground by allowing players to drive pretty much anywhere. Sure, there are roads, and your GPS can guide you from location to location, but sticking to the blacktop isn't always the quickest way to get where you want to be. It can be tricky to see where you're going when barreling about off-road, especially if you choose the wrong camera angle. But to be fair, the same could be said for attempting to drive a real car through a vineyard at 80 mph. The only time you're "forced" to drive a specific car is if you participate in either a bucket list or special event.
Does Forza Horizon 2 Work On Xbox One The former is a single race where you need drive an exotic car and attempt to hit a specific goal - such as a certain speed on a specific road. The latter is a straight-up race – not against other cars, but planes and a train. All are top fun, but the train race was the outstanding event for me. It's very well choreographed, and even if you run a perfect race, you still have times when you're racing alongside the train and it feels neck-and-neck. If this is your first choice for an open world racer, you will probably love it. However, if you have been playing new open world racers like FH3, Need for Speed Payback, Burnout Paradise Remastered etc, then you won't want to come on over and play FH2.
The next forza horizon installment, FH3, has much better graphics, a huge map dwarfing FH2s map, has much more interaction, and has over 300 more cars . So while this is a great game, it's successor FH3 is much much better. I would say if you haven't played any new open worlds, start with this one.
If you've played the new ones, stay away from this game unless you just want to see how far we have come. You're still gonna love this game if you go from FH2 to FH3 and back, but I fear if you go from FH3 to FH2 then you're going to realize how spoiled you've been and it will ruin the experience. As far as language and nudity goes, the expert review says it all. Some song lyrics on your radio use the word "damn" and that's about it . There are some AIs on the side that are in bikinis, but it's not like you're at a strip club.
Now back to the songs, there is one song that contains lyrics such as "Touching you feels so right, let me come inside" "Touching you feels so right, let me, let me satisfy". It's older now, so you should expect it to not be top notch. The original Forza Motorsport launched on the original Xbox in 2005, but really took off with the release of Forza Motorsport 2 for the Xbox 360 in 2007. The entire series was positioned as Xbox's flagship racing franchise. PlayStation had the hugely popular Gran Turismo racing game series, Microsoft offered Forza as competition.
Today, the Forza series is one of the most successful racing video games and a showcase for the entire genre. Forza Horizon 2 is just one, but still important chapter in how this came to be. GenreRacingModeSingle-player, multiplayerForza Horizon 2 is a 2014 racing video game developed for Microsoft's Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles.
It is the sequel to 2012's Forza Horizon and the seventh instalment in the Forza series. The Xbox One version of the game was developed by Playground Games, the team behind the original Forza Horizon, while Sumo Digital developed the version for Xbox 360, with Forza series developer Turn 10 Studios supporting both builds. The Xbox 360 version is also the final Forza game released for the platform. The game received positive reviews from critics and a sequel, Forza Horizon 3, was released on 27 September 2016. Everything stated in the review can be applied to the online mode with the exception of the Rewind feature and ANNA . Car Meets work well, and the game seems to take into account that some players have a Club full a friends to always drive with while others are good with sharing free roam online with whomever.
The big caveat is that the online, Drivatars, Rivals, Clubs, Leaderboards, etc. will all mushroom to a massive extent once the game releases and thereby will realized when I was online. Earning XP has also changed, this time referring to a much more fleshed out skill-based system that rewards you with driver points for drifting, near misses, drafting, getting big air and more. As you go you'll increase your overall level, add perks to an arbitrary progress tree and spin the Wheelspin, a random lucky dip available whenever you level up. This nets random rewards like credits or perhaps even a free ride.
If there's one flaw in the system it's that the game makes progression feel slower with how it dishes out cars, even if you're technically leveling up faster by earning kudos points. The events on offer remain much the same as the previous game, but this should not be seen as a negative, as FH really did a lot of things right the first time around. Events range from point to point races, circuit races, races that include off-road segments, and finally the road trip.
The road trip for each Horizon festival location is unlocked by beating a championship. After doing so, you are offered the chance to take the road trip to the next location. This is basically how you unlock each section of the map for events . To unlock the whole map takes about four hours of play, but the actual game is quite a bit longer than this. There are also some novelty events to take part in such as racing against fighter jets and trains.
What I love about all this is that while each championship is set in terms of the type of races (scramble, on and off-road, and autocross), the choice of vehicle isn't. It's up to the player to decide which vehicle he or she wants to race, and the game creates a competitive field of cars tuned to match it. You can win the entire game with just one car if you want. It's fantastic, because you don't ever have to drive a vehicle you don't want to - at least, not when it comes to the driving events. Forza Horizon 2 includes more than 700 events, with the addition of barrier-less cross country races that allow up to 12 players to participate. Driving challenges will be featured in "Bucket Lists." Each challenge can be triggered by entering a vehicle that is unique to the event.
These vehicles are placed throughout the setting of the game. Similar to Rivals Mode, new Bucket Lists will be continuously released or updated post-launch. The standalone expansion of the game based on The Fast and the Furious franchise, Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious, added nitrous oxide boosts to the Forza series. Unlike other racing games however, nitrous can only be used during most of the game's events, and only replenishes at the very start of said events. Race through a wide-open world featuring dramatic weather and day to night cycles. Instantly connect with friends in the ultimate celebration of speed, style, and action-packed driving.
Explore beautiful and exotic locations in more than 200 of the world's greatest cars, all created with precise detail in 1080p. Another part of 'Forza Horizon 2' that just seems like a bullet point on the box until it's in action, is the Skills system. This game stresses that the player drive with style, and for doing all of these stylish racings things skillfully, the game awards skills points and XP. Whether carefully squeezing past an opponent, drifting around a curve, mowing over a hedge, getting some hang time, or smoothly sustaining a high speed, the game is scoring and awarding the player. Exhibiting skills and not smashing into everything will net the player a Skill Chain with multiplier that is partly fueled by sustained clean racing. There are usually about two races per car, and there are about 20 main missions in the game; however, all of that can easily be completed in an hour or two.
There is other side stuff, such as reward boards to crash into and skill score events, but there is little of substance to do outside of unlocking the cars. And honestly, the other stuff doesn't matter; none of the side stuff is tied to the Achievements, and it unlocks nothing new. After beating the core game I found myself speeding through Nice with little to do and quickly moving onto other things. Where you will find most improvement though by the jump in generation is not surprisingly the graphics. The visuals and draw distance in FH2 are stunning and we really do think this is the first racing game we have played that shows the generation jump and what is possible.
The location of Europe offers some stunning visuals and one of the hardest things to get right in a racing game, the cockpit view, is utterly perfect. Usually we find the engine slows down, or the car feels slower from the cockpit view, but the developers have knocked this one out of the park. Music wise, there are numerous radio stations that range from dance style music through to classical, although not all are available from the outset with many being unlocked, as you progress through the game.
Whilst Forza Horizon kept you on the tarmac, FH2 introduces off-road racing, along with its more traditional counterpart. Quite simply, in particular championships, you will be roughing it in the middle of fields and paddocks, trying to keep hold of the powerful engine sitting in the light chassis. It adds a new element of challenge to the series and offers some of the tensest racing around. There is nothing like driving through a field not being able to see in front of you, trying to determine where the next checkpoint is.
The drivatar model from Forza Motorsport 5 is present here as well with friends making up the bulk of your competitors. Along with this change comes the Bucket List, the chance to drive super powerful cars before being able to afford them in the game. As with the originalForza Horizon, Playground Games have kept the frame rate at 30 fps, a noticeable dip from the 60 fps of Forza Motorsport. Still, that 30 fps appeared to be rock-solid in our time playing, even when there was plenty of action on-screen. The cars have fully rendered interiors, as you might expect in 2014, and Forza Horizon 2 gives them a little more to do thanks to dynamic day-to-night transitions and dynamic weather, a first for the series.
I drive like an utter arse in most racing games, cutting corners and driving through sand traps and chicanes so I can gain an advantage while the rest of the AI racers have play it straight and follow the rules. Forza Horizon 2 simply embraces the cheatin' bastard ethic and accepts that if there are corners to be cut, and fields to be driven across to shave seconds off your race time, you're going to do it. Forza Horizon 2, is a very realistic racing game with a massive storyline and can get you playing for hours on end, it features 100s of different cars and it will give you days of fun.
At the time I'm writing this, Forza Horizon 2 is over 6 years old, but some people are still playing it. It is a fairly good arcade-style racing game that would please many players of all ages. However, some downsides can impede your playing experience. Privacy concerns when playing Online Freeroam or Online Roadtrip have come up over the years, and some parents have banned their kids from playing with the online features enabled for various reasons.
But if you are of older age and playing, I believe that this game would be completely fine to play through, whether it be online or in person. The basic premise of the game is to drive around and participate in different types of driving events. As the XP builds up, you'll earn new wristbands, which entitle you to enter more events. The game allows the player to connect with their friends instantly which makes it more interesting. The game also takes the players through hilly and snowy sites which can be quite challenging to drive especially in games like racing. The game released various downloadable packs of the contents required in a racing car.
On 27 August 2014, Microsoft announced that a demo version of the game would be made available on Xbox One on 16 September 2014. On the day of the demo release, Microsoft confirmed that the game had been declared gold, indicating it was being prepared for duplication and release. The standard "10th Anniversary Edition" of the Xbox One version was given to Xbox Live Gold members for free throughout August 2018 as part of Microsoft's Games with Gold program. Forza Horizon 2 and its downloadable content were digitally delisted on 1 October 2018. Those who already own it can still download and play the game and its DLC.
